The Venue – Our Woodyard, Duchy Home Farm, Tetbury, Glos.
This course has been designed to give you understanding and experience of the key stages of shingle making, from start to finish. We’ll be weighing up the different timbers, techniques and tools. You’ll be making shakes and shingles, dressed and un-dressed (that’s the shingle not you!) Finally we’ll be setting out shingles as they need to be laid on a roof and discussing the doos and don’t of their use.
This day will also help the self-builder who might be looking at buying in ready-made shingles. We’ll cover what types to use, cost & longevity, what corners can be cut (so to speak) and which can’t.
Tea, coffee and biscuits provided. Bring packed lunch.
No previous experience necessary.
The course is held at our lovely woodyard where all our building projects start.
